What do I have to do to get a HGV drivers licence?

D4 Medical & D2 application

The first Step to becoming a LGV driver is by doing a medical.

You can do this with your own doctor and they will test multiple things to ensure that you are fit to driver a HGV/ PCV vehicle.

These include things like Eye sight test and seeing what medication you are on

The other thing you would have to do is to do a D2 application form.

A D2 application form is for you to apply for your provisional entitlement to drive a LGV/PCV vehicle.

Once there are done you can then send them to the DVLA where they will add the entitlements to your licence

Theory tests: Module 1a,1b & module 2

After you get your licence back from the DVLA you can then start revising ready for your theory tests. Underneath explains what each module of the theory test means:

Module 1a is your multiple choice test

Module 1b is your Hazard perception test

Module 2 is your CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence) case studies test

Once these are done you can then move to the next Module

Module 3a & 3b

Once you have completed your theory test you can then come to us to start to trainng to drive a HGV vehicle

We will take you on the road to teach you everything you need to pass your HGV driving test

In that time you would complete the module 3a & 3b which are explained below

The module 3a is your reversing test.

The module 3b is your on road test

There's no need to worry as our expert instructor will train you to pass them tests
